UPN 38 Robi on the Road
Bill "Stew" Stewart » Monday May 23, 2005
Dave “Robi” Robichaud of UPN 38 gave me a call in mid-April after seeing the picture of the first hole in the Boston Globe magazine. He thought a story on Pye Brook Park and disc golf in general would be good for his show, Robi on the Road, part of the UPN 38 morning show. Videos can be downloaded inside the article.
Borderland Spring Fling
Matt Stroika » Saturday May 21, 2005
The 2005 edition of the Borderland Spring Fling was a great success. The course was Borderland State Park, and the forecast of another rainy weekend scared off a few players, but 83 people showed up ready to play on what turned out to be a wonderful day of disc golf.

Inside The Green - Pye Brook Park
Bill "Stew" Stewart » Tuesday March 29, 2005
I had stumbled across the sport from an Ultimate Frisbee contact. I played for the first time at Amesbury in the fall of 2002 (about 15 min. from Topsfield). I quickly became addicted to the sport, and got an understanding about this terrific community of people involved by attending the last Frozen Fruits tournament in January of 2003 – simply because it was held in the town next to mine. In June of ’03, my wife asked me what I wanted for my 40th birthday. I told her to see if she could pull any strings in the charitable foundation she works for to pay for a disc golf course – somewhat jokingly. She told me, “Make it happen.”
New Course Record
Roger Gagnon » Thursday March 24, 2005
The last course record known was a 48 thrown by Chris Vilmorin during the Fall of ‘04. Chris threw for 8 birdies and a 5 on hole 18. After several rounds and attempts by numerous other players, Pye Brook Park’s course record score of 48, was beat by Matt Stroika. Matt shot a 46 in the middle of last December to overcome Chris’ record by 2.
When recently asked about the round, Matt commented “I closed with a 4 on hole 18, 2 on hole 1, and a 2 on hole 2. I know I didn’t deuce holes 3, 9, or 14. The others I can’t remember, but I know I had a bunch.”
Who will be the next to challenge Matt’s score? How long will this score last? No one can answer this question truthfully, but with the upcoming Eastern Massachusetts Championships bringing all levels of players to the Pye, Matt can only pray.
Excellent round Matt!
